Each year, we have a family tradition which I started towards end of 2018 that each and every beginning of each year, we have to start the year with a family vacation. The idea is to spend time as a family, relax, connect, have fun, pray, etc. before the hectic life starts. This tradition doesn’t only include my family but every family that is close to us and would like to join. Thus far, I have found this experience to be fulfilling and such a wonderful experience because I have been gaining more than the initial idea and more and more.
We kicked it off in Durban last year for a week. This year, we went to Cape Town and what an exciting experience. It kicked off with the longest flight ✈️ yes, I felt like 2 hours was 10 hours really, don’t know why but we were just not getting there. Anyway, we finally got there and it all started.
So the biggest highlight for me was everything but particularly getting to know my Son. Don’t get me wrong, I know him but his mind just has that effect of blowing me away. The way he speaks and articulates himself is just amazeballs. I found myself drawn to him and wanting him to speak more. He is just a brilliant boy and I would like to make more time to just hear him out. I feel like his mind is the kind that just tickles my fancy. Intelligence just gets me excited 😆 My little daughter is also on her own level of being clingy to me and enjoying figuring things out for herself. I just really love sending her around as she understands instructions, shame, rich child! She gives the best hugs and kisses 😘 She makes me experience a different type of love, I cannot even describe it but I feel it deep inside...
I have been to Cape Town far too many times and really thought I was going to be bored. Boy, was I wrong? I saw Cape Town almost through my children’s eyes and it was just the best. I had so much fun and I realized that there is so much to do there, just depends on the company I’m with.
We did few sightseeing but the big one for Neko was Table Mountain 🏔, the beach, touring Cape Town, the Wheel, etc. He was so disappointed when they cancelled Robin Island on us when we were on the cue due to strikes. I must say that although I have done it, I was also disappointed on his behalf. What can we say, people needs to get paid better and we had to understand that! I actually felt bad for the tourists as it came as a shock for them and really messed their plans, Shame!
I’m grateful to my Husby and children for the best family trip ever. Psychology research states that family vacations have real positive effects on children’s growth and life in general. Happiness levels always spikes up and I hope with the little we do for them, some good will come out for them. I am looking for more memories together and more of these wonderful moments together in 2020!
